Jaishankar meets global counterparts, pushes trade and strategic cooperation

External Affairs Minister $ Jaishankar on Wednesday held series of high-level meetings with counterparts from Canada, the United States, Germany, France, Brazil, and the United Kingdom on the sidelines of the G7 foreign ministers’ outreach session in Niagara, underscoring India’ intent to rebuild and expand strategic and economic ties amid shifting global dynamics.

In his meeting with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, Jaishankar reviewed cooperation in trade, energy, security, and people-to-people relations—key pillars of the recently launched “New Road-map 2025,’ which both nations had firmed up during Anand’s visit to New Delhi last month. The two leaders discussed the progress made under the roadmap and future areas of collaboration.

“Appreciated the progress in implementation of the New Road-map 2025. Look forward to the further rebuilding of our bilateral partnership?” Jaishankar said in a post on social media after the meeting. Anand described the discussions as constructive, saying both sides reviewed cooperation in multiple sectors, including trade and energy.
