IAF says cooperating with police probe

An FIR has been registered against a Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force (IAF) following a complaint of rape lodged by a woman Flying Officer stationed at the Air Force Station here. The First Information Report (FIR) was filed on September 8 at Budgam police station in central Kashmir under "relevant sections of the law," including Section 376 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to rape by a member of the armed forces, a senior police official confirmed.

The IAF said it is cooperating with the police.

"We are aware of the case. The Air Force Station in Srinagar was approached by the local Budgam police station on the subject. We are fully cooperating towards this case," a senior IAF official said.
