VP Sara, AFP honor country's more than 158,000 reservists

Vice President Sara Duterte and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) paid tribute to the country's 158,269 Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine reservists to culminate the celebration of the 46th National Reservists Week.

"Becoming a reservist requires great sacrifice and a sincere regard for the well-being of fellow citizens during emergencies, disasters, and crises," Duterte said in a message on Saturday, Sept. 13.

"We salute the valiant men and women of the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) Reserve Force who demonstrate commitment in sharing their civilian lives for national service," she added.

The Vice President further recognized the reservists for their willingness and dedication to serve our country despite their other responsibilities in their chosen fields or sectors of society.

She hoped that Filipino reservists continue to remember to take the lead in fighting for the truth for the sake of democracy.

Also on Saturday, the AFP honored the service and sacrifices of the country's “citizen soldiers”.
