'This is a victory for Marikeños,' says Teodoro as Comelec allows his proclamation

"Democracy has prevailed. This is a victory for the people of Marikina," said Congressman-elect Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro on Thursday, June 26, following the Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc's reversal of the First Division's ruling canceling his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) and lifting the suspension order on his proclamation.

The Comelec First Division had earlier granted the petition to cancel or deny due course to Mayor Teodoro’s COC for the 1st District. The petition was filed by Pimentel and a certain Leighrich James, who alleged material misrepresentation in Teodoro’s COC.
Teodoro garnered the most number of votes for Marikina City’s 1st District congressional seat in the May 12 election, receiving 75,062 votes against Sen. Koko Pimentel III, but was not proclaimed due to the pending case.
