Look sharp, smooth, and suave with these fresh ways to style tailored menswear

- JOHN ROLAND LEGASPI

Suit up, but make it super fly

For its spring 2025 exhibition, the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is embracing the theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." Inspired by the book "Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity" by Monica L. Miller, the showcase will spotlight menswear—specifically the style and influence of Black men throughout history.

Fashion savants know that the exhibition theme heavily influences the sartorial spectacle of the Met Gala, the annual fundraising event benefiting the Costume Institute. This year, attendees are invited to interpret the "Tailored for You" dress code. Expect modern takes on dandyism to dominate the red carpet, with playful menswear staples like hats, ties, canes, brooches, and pocket squares making stylish appearances.
