Taekwondo jin Justin Kobe Macario delivered the first gold for Team Philippines after topping the men’s freestyle poomsae event at the Fashion Island Shopping Mall on Wednesday, Dec. 10, here.

Macario displayed an impeccable routine with great precision and power, and stuck all of his landings which earned him 8.200 points to edge Koedkaew Atchariya of Thailand for the top spot.
The hometown bet scored 8.100 points to claim the silver while Malaysia’s Ken Haw Chin bagged the bronze with 7.740 points.
“It felt great to know that I won the first gold for the Philippines,” said Macario, who won his first individual gold in the SEA Games after winning a silver and bronze in the mixed team events in the 2021 and 2023 editions of the biennial meet.
“I just wanted to perform what we have been practicing for months. I gave it all and let the Lord decide my fate,” he added.
