Ombudsman Remulla scraps SALN restrictions

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin C. Remulla on Tuesday, Oct. 14, scrapped the restriction on access to the Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) of public officials as he warned public officials against “selective transparency,” emphasizing that doing so will only breed suspicion.
“This decision is guided by a simple principle: the public has a legitimate right to know how those in government acquire and manage their wealth,” he said.
In a still unnumbered memorandum circular, all requests for copies of SALNs will be granted, except in the following cases:
