The cloud cluster being monitored over the West Philippine Sea developed into a low-pressure area (LPA) on Friday morning, Sept. 5, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The LPA, located 85 kilometers west-southwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, at 8 a.m., has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
