Lawmakers to decide VP Sara impeachment based on conscience, not cues from Palace - Castro

Malacañang said members of the House of Representatives must decide for themselves whether to pursue an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, stressing that such decisions should be guided by conscience and evidence, not signals from the Palace.

Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro said this following suggestions from lawmakers that an impeachment effort requires clearance from Malacañang.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, Jan. 14, Castro said legislators were elected by the people, and are, therefore, expected to know right from wrong and act in the public interest rather than for political convenience.
