ICC extends days of visit for Duterte

The International Criminal Court’s (ICC) detention unit has extended the allowed days for the family of former president Rodrigo Duterte to visit him at the Scheveningen Prison in The Hague, Netherlands.

This was disclosed by Vice President Sara Duterte during an exchange with Duterte supporters outside the detention facility in The Hague on Tuesday, June 3.

“So, we are thankful for the ICC detention unit because they approved our request to increase the number of days that we can visit former president Rodrigo Duterte. As far as I remember, it is allowed to visit on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Thank you for that,” she said in Filipino.

The younger Duterte and her mother and the former president’s ex-wife Elizabeth Zimmerman had just visited her father, who has been detained there since March 12, for one hour and 30 minutes on Tuesday. This was their second visit in a week, she said.

After she and her mother return to the Philippines, her brother, Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte and his family, and Honeylet Avanceña, her father’s common-lawwife, are the next relatives scheduled to visit.
