House members buckle down to work withnearly 700 measures filed

Members of the House of Representatives hit the ground running on the first day of work in the 20th Congress, filing a total of 683 measures on Monday, June 30.
Data from the House Tuesday, July 1, bared that, of the 683 measures filed, 666 were House bills (HB), while 16 were resolutions. There was one joint resolution filed.
Leading the way among the fil-ers was Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez, who filed the first five measures that were recorded as HB Nos. 1 to 5.
HB No.1 or the proposed "Rice Industry and Consumer Empowerment (RICE) Act", seeks to restore the National Food Authority's (NFA) regulatory powers to lower rice prices and protect farmers, in support of President Marcos' push to ensure affordable food and strengthen local agriculture.
