Election ads bolster GMA H1 earnings

GMA Network Inc., the country’s leading broadcast company, reported that its first-half net income surged more than threefold year-on-year to P2 billion from P602.35 million as revenues were boosted by political ads in the run-up to the 2025 midterm elections.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), the network said its end-June consolidated revenues rose by 29.5 percent to P10.1 billion from the P7.8 billion recorded in the same period last year.
Advertising revenue rose to P9.3 billion, driven by election-related placements during the May midterm polls, alongside higher revenues from production services and others.
Operating expenses (opex) increased by six percent to 7.6 billion, mainly due to higher cash and non-cash production costs, as well as general and administrative expenses.
