Sally Ann Matthews has left Corrie almost 40 years after she first appeared

CORONATION Street star Sally Ann Matthews has taken to social media after her emotional show exit.

The actress was seen bowing out of the ITV soap on Wednesday night, almost 40 years since she made her debut in the role of Jenny Bradley - who later married Johnny Connor.

Oldham-born Sally was just 16 when she made her first appearance in 1986.

The daughter of villain Alan Bradley, Jenny was taken in by mother figure Rita Tanner - then Rita Fairclough - while her father worked away.
