Apartments plan to save historic site for future

A DISUSED Victorian library has been sold off by the council to be transformed into an apartment complex.
Hyde Library has fallen into disrepair since it closed down 10 years ago.
Last year a vision for its future was secured when developers Hyde Court Ltd gained approval to convert it into 102 new apartments.
Tameside council has now confirmed the sale of the land.
This means the site off Union Street, which opened in 1899, will be turned into three apartment blocks.
