Future of town centre on agenda at consultation

MORE than 40 residents and local business representatives gathered to discuss the future of Macclesfield Town Centre.
The consultation event, at Macclesfield Town Hall, was also attended by MP Tim Roca and Councillor Fiona Wilson, chair of the Town Centre Regeneration Group.
It aims to build on the previous town centre plan, developed during the pandemic, which delivered improvements such as the installation of public toilets, new outdoor eating areas, and public art such as the Ian Curtis mural.
Current difficulties the town centre faces include empty units in some areas and the increase in parking charges that came into effect this week.
