Skygazers gather for partial solar eclipse

ACROSS Manchester and the UK people were treated to a celestial show yesterday morning when a partial solar eclipse took place.

Skygazers watched as the moon passed across the sun, obscuring a chunk of it.

In a full eclipse the moon passes between the sun and the Earth, and the three completely align.

But in a partial eclipse only a section of the sun is blocked by the moon.
