Corrie having to rewrite Gail exit scenes after Martin actor quits

- PHOEBE JOBLING AND JASMINE ALLDAY

Platt's all, folks...

CORONATION Street has been forced to revise actor Helen Worth’s departure scenes following the ‘unexpected’ resignation of Sean Wilson, who portrays Martin Platt.

Sean, who made his debut on the show in 1985, was scheduled to reprise his role later this year as part of Gail Platt’s final storyline set to air this Christmas – which will see her leave the ITV soap after a remarkable five decades.

imageOriginally, Martin was set to return to bid Gail farewell, but this will no longer be the case. As a result, soap bosses are now reportedly scrambling to rewrite the exit storyline.

Coronation Street has now confirmed that Sean will not be reprising his role as Martin later in the year. A spokesperson for the soap told The Mirror: “Sean Wilson has stepped down from filming for personal reasons.”

It is alleged that Helen is devastated that Sean won’t be part of her exit storyline. A source claimed: “It has come as a complete and utter shock to everyone – and his sudden exit has rocked everyone involved with Corrie,” reports the Mirror.
