I've finally won battle over stupid parking ticket'

A BUSINESS owner has finally won after successfully appealing against a 'stupid' parking ticket over a confusing street sign.

Bob Amato received two parking tickets in the space of a week after stopping his car on Hibbert Street, in Rusholme. On the first occasion, he failed to notice the sign warning drivers of 'permit holders parking only past this point, so he paid the fine and noted the restriction.

To his surprise, he received another parking ticket days later, having parked his Ford Fiesta before the same sign, believing he was able to do so.

It sparked a four-month battle to get the ticket cancelled.

When Bob was issued his first ticket, he completely missed the signs, having parked up on a 'dark evening "They were obvious afterwards, but I had just not been looking for them when I was parking," said Bob.

"I paid the ticket, but I noticed that the signs said 'residents' parking beyond this point, so I made a note of that." As Bob returned to Hibbert Street days later, he thought he had found an ideal spot which would not fall foul of the parking restrictions, in front of the sign yet he still received a ticket.
