The good and the RATE in season of change

AFTER 133 years at the first purpose-built football ground in England, Everton’s historic final season at Goodison Park has been completed.

But just how did all the individual members of the Blues squad perform?

With just 17 points from the first 19 matches - less than 50% of their tally in 2022/23, which was the lowest equivalent total in Everton’s history as they avoided a first relegation in 72 years by a single goal on the final day - manager Sean Dyche was sacked at the halfway point to be replaced by the returning David Moyes.

The Scot steered the Blues to nine top-eight finishes, including a highest ever Premier League position of fourth in 2004/05 during his first spell in charge, and having come back to Goodison at such a pivotal moment, he guided them from being just a point above the drop zone to finishing the campaign in 13th place with a run that included five away victories.

With two Carabao Cup ties and two FA Cup ties, Everton had a total of 42 fixtures throughout the season, using a total of 27 players and while none of them were ever-present, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford turned out in all 38 Premier League matches.

Idrissa Gueye, who was named Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season, missed just one Premier League game with 35 starts and two substitute appearances, but will that be enough for him to get top spot here?
