DIDI Hamann has warned Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz that Liverpool could look to sell the pair next year if they don’t improve.

- By THEO SQUIRES ECHO Reporter

The Reds twice broke the British transfer record last summer to sign both players, first agreeing a deal worth up to £116m to land the German from Bayer Leverkusen before parting with £125m to sign the Swede from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day.

However, the pair are yet to live up to their hefty price-tags with Arne Slot’s men ultimately struggling during the first half of the season.

Isak has struggled with fitness issues, having endured a disrupted preseason at Newcastle in a bid to force through an exit, and has scored just one Premier League goal since joining Liverpool.

Making 15 appearances in all competitions, he boasts two goals in total for the Reds but remains some way off top form, having had to play catch-up following his move to Anfield after a summer spent training on his own.
