Ex-council boss says road restrictions for BBC Sefton Park festival featuring Sugababes are causing 'untold chaos'

- By DAVID HUMPHREYS Local Democracy Reporter

A FORMER leader of Liverpool City Council has claimed traffic preparations for a major music festival in one of the city's most popular areas have caused "untold chaos.

Next weekend, Sefton Park will welcome thousands of music fans as BBC Radio 1 brings its Big Weekend event to Liverpool. Taking place from Friday, May 23, it is the first time the popular festival has been staged in Liverpool.

Preparations are now under way around the 235-acre park to get it ready for the 100,000 people expected.

This has prompted fury from former city boss Warren Bradley, who said the traffic regulations around the park to facilitate the festival is causing "unbelievable" congestion across a much wider area.
