A stronger, greener, healthier Merseyside. That's the vision of United Utilities as it embarks on the largest investment in water and wastewater infrastructure for a century.

The Big North West Upgrade will see the company spend more than £13bn over the next five years protecting and enhancing rivers, lakes and bathing waters while safeguarding water supplies for millions of customers.

Transforming water services

United Utilities’ Action Plan for Merseyside is already underway, including a massive £151m upgrade of the Vyrnwy Aqueduct. The aqueduct, which runs from Lake Vyrnwy through to Merseyside, has helped deliver drinking water to customers and communities in the North West region since 1892.
