KIERNAN KNOWS BLUES NEED GOALS FROM EVERYONE - AS HE LAMENTS SHOWING REDS TOO MUCH RESPECT IN DERBY DEFEAT

- By CHRIS BEESLEY

KIERNAN Dewsbury-Hall admits that Everton are going to have to share the goals around this season after he missed a big chance to score in front of the Kop on his Merseyside derby debut while Blues boss David Moyes hooked striker Beto for Thierno Barry at halftime.

Everton lost 2-1 to Liverpool, with Idrissa Gueye netting his first goal since he found the net against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on the final day of the 2023/24 season but Moyes’ side were already 2-0 down after clinical strikes from Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike.

With neither Beto nor Barry who is still yet to score following his £27million move from Villarreal in July - dominating up front, Dewsbury-Hall, another summer signing from Chelsea, was asked whether he is going to have to be the out-ball for the strikers.

He said: "Yes, it's fair to say. I want to score goals and get assists.

"In the first half, it's just one of those things. I fancied it in that position and on another day I might have squared it.

"Look, it's not all going to be down to Thierno Barry and Beto to get all our goals. Everyone is going to have to contribute.

"Today, Idrissa Gana Gueye got a goal and all the midfielders have got a goal this season so I think to score a lot of goals in the Premier League you need everyone to contribute. That's definitely what we're going to try and do."
