AFTER UNDERWHELMING FIRST TIME OUT, THIS APOCALYPTIC POST-PANDEMIC TALE GETS SECOND CHANCE TO CATCH ON

GOING VIRAL?

So while I was surprised that it was being remastered, I was also pleased that it was getting a second shot for players to rediscover it.

Those months of updates and patches left the base game in a pretty good state, so foundationally developer Sony Bend has had something solid to build on.

For those who don’t know, you play as Deacon St John, a former outlaw turned drifter/bounty hunter trying to eke out an existence in a world shattered by a global pandemic.

If you didn’t die in the pandemic, there's a good chance you were transformed into a ‘freaker', zombie-like creatures that are more animal than human.

It all sounds very familiar, and you only have to look at the game to see its designers have drawn heavy inspiration from the likes of The Walking Dead, World War Z and even Sons of Anarchy.

But there’s enough here to make it stand apart from those franchises.
