Chants of 'Nazi scum' as march meets opposition

Anti-immigration marchers yesterday

A SCUFFLE broke out as a march with alleged links to the far right made its way through Southport yesterday.

Marchers carrying Union Flags said they were protesting against issues including illegal immigration and digital IDs.

They gathered on Marine Drive and over Marine Way Bridge before being met by dozens of counter-protestors, who chanted: “Nazi scum, off our streets,” outside amusement arcade Funland.

One sign held by an opponent of the march read “We won World War II to stop fascists like you.”
