EVERTON are exploring loan moves for several defenders in the club's academy as the January transfer window approaches.

Centre-backs Reece Welch and Elijah Campbell, who have both featured in recent Premier League matchday squads, are expected to earn more exposure to senior football after being prevented from being able to look for clubs in the summer.

The Blues could also allow fel low the likes of centre-back Will Tamen, impressive in the Under21s' 3-2 win over PSV Eindhoven on Monday night, and fullback George Finney to head out should appropriate interest materialise.

Roman Dixon who, like Campbell, has England development experience, could yet earn a first loan move should he continue his recovery from a serious injury that prevented a move to League One side Stockport County in the summer.

The right-back, who made his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur last season, is closing in on a return to action and Stockport, where Everton teammate Tyler Onyango is already on loan, are understood to be following his progress.
