'School war' appeal made to parents

SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS ENCOURAGE CONFRONTATIONS TO EARN 'POINTS'

PARENTS have been asked to ensure pupils are not taking to school items connected with a social media trend encouraging fighting.

Police have contacted nearly 20 schools across the city and county about the trend after posts, pictured, appeared on social media naming them in connection with school wars.

The trend, which originated in London, involves pupils being encouraged to film physical confrontations to score points for their colour.

Digital posters split students from against each other in opposing red and blue teams.

In one poster shared online, 17 schools are listed.
