THE latest figures show UK house prices increased by 2.8 per cent on average in the 12 months to July 2025.

That means the average home - including flats and houses - costs £270,000, which is a leap of £7,000 from the year before.

Here in Leicestershire, nearly all districts of the county have seen increases - but they vary from almost nothing to more than double the national average increase.

Oadby and Wigston, the only district to see a drop, saw prices fall by 0.6 per cent to an average of £260,000. Hinckley and Bosworth only saw a tiny increase, with average prices rising by 0.3 per cent to about £250,000.

House prices have been variable in recent months and years, going from falls in the summer of 2023 to minor increases in the summer of 2024 before this summer's jump.
