THE official "best casual dining spot in Leicestershire" has been revealed.

The venue was also highly commended in the county's best pub of the year category.

The White Horse, in Birstall, has been named the best casual dining spot at this year's Leicestershire Promotions Tourism and Hospitality Awards, which brought together leading businesses from across the region's tourism and hospitality sector.

Alongside its headline win, The White Horse also secured highly commended in the best pub of the year, best dog-friendly and best Sunday lunch categories.

A spokesman for the pub said the win had "floored" the bosses attending the awards night.
