A GROUP of friends are cycling the length of the UK to raise funds in memory of their loved one who died of sepsis.
-
The team, made up of supporters from all over the UK and Europe, are cycling from Land’s End to John O'Groats to raise money for the UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) and Versus Arthritis in memory of Anne Channevy Walsh, who died last September.
The team will embark on the 1,600km ride on Saturday, and aim to arrive at their destination, John O'Groats, nine days late on July 6.
Team ACW (Anne Channevy Walsh) has already raised over £27,167 and consists of Anne's husband, Ben, her brother-in-law, and friends.
Cycling in branded UKST and Versus Arthritis kit, courtesy of event sponsors MB Associates, the team’s fundraising efforts were kickstarted with a donation of £25,000 from Anne’s workplace, Generation.
Anne, who lived in Banstead, died suddenly during Sepsis Awareness Month after being told she “had a cold” following surgery.
Ben, Anne’s husband, said: “The most important thing that this challenge has given me is purpose. Having the goal to work towards, being outside and training has been a saviour in the dark days.
