New estate promises more than just houses

A new housing development on the outskirts of Preston is set to include a care home and community facility – if it gets the go-ahead.
Developer Wain Homes has submitted plans to build up to 167 properties - ranging between one and five bedrooms-on land off the Broughton bypass.
Within the proposed estate, space will also be reserved for the neighbouring Broughton-in-Amounderness CoE Primary School to use as a playing field, with the possibility of part of the land being given over to a new staff car park to assist with the school's multi-million pound expansion.
An extra 25 pupils are being admitted each year - which will add 175 children to the school roll over the course of seven years.
