The UK Subs frontman still relishing life on road at age 81 ahead of summer festival in resort

The UK Subs, led by 81-year-old punk veteran Charlie Harper, are back together again in time for this summer's Rebellion festival in Blackpool following a mad-cap adventure to Donald Trump’s America.

The band’s bassist Alvin Gibbs, along with bandmates Stefan Haublein and Marc Carrey were detained at immigration and custom control at Los Angeles, before being deported back to the UK.

“I got into L.A., but the band didn’t,” said Harper.

“The custom people were asking all sorts of questions and then one said to me: ‘What do you do for a living?

“I replied: ‘I write songs for people.’
