Bridge widening closure of route

A bottleneck bridge between Preston and one of its villages is to see widening work take place through to the end of this year.

A full closure of the bridge in Preston Road at Grimsargh is now planned for the October half-term, but work gets under way from Monday with the site compound being put into position at Grimsargh St Michaels Church.

Known locally as ‘Skew Bridge’, it can currently allow two vehicles over - but Lancashire County Council wants to widen the bridge so buses and lorries can cross without the need for drivers to give-way.
