Vision restored, 7-yr-old arrives from Amazon to thank UAE President

The chances to treat her traumatic cataract condition at her isolated village were slim. She could no longer go to school, play with friends, or have a normal life. In July 2024, Miranda’s path crossed with Associacio Expedicionarios da Satide (EDS), a non-profit organisation.

Associagéo Expedicionarios da Satide (EDS) had been awarded the Zayed Sustainability Prize 2023 in the health category, for its Mobile Hospital Complex, which provides specialised medical and surgical care for indigenous communities geographically isolated within the Amazon. The prize money helps winners continue their humanitarian work.
