The summer heat in Kashmir this year has been brutal. Temperatures have hit levels that locals say haven't been seen in over a century.

As the valley swelters, a fresh debate has erupted: should schools extend the summer break?

It’s not just a quiet conversation among parents anymore. Social media has exploded with opinions, arguments, and even angry accusations. Some influencers, chasing likes and shares, have turned the issue into a public spectacle. They offer advice as if they understand the real situation inside our schools. But many of them are far from the ground reality.

Let’s be clear: the people making these decisions are not sitting in a bubble. School authorities and officials know what they’re doing. They don’t need YouTube personalities or self-proclaimed experts preaching from air-conditioned rooms. What they need, and what we all need, is to look closely at the actual conditions our children face in schools across the valley.
