Srinagar: Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) has strongly rebutted a news report published in a local daily on July 28, 2025, concerning the Jhelum Riverfront Development project.

Terming the article “unbalanced,” “factually inaccurate,” and “lacking verifiable information,” SSCL issued a detailed statement highlighting the progress, vision, and public benefit of the initiative under the Government of India’s Smart Cities Mission.

The statement clarifies that the Jhelum Riverfront project was envisioned to reclaim and revitalise previously neglected riverbanks, making them accessible, inclusive, and ecologically sensitive public spaces. The project has been executed in phases along both the Left and Right Banks of the Jhelum River, with a strong focus on urban inclusivity, environmental sustainability, and cultural revival.
