Speaker Urges Decorum As MLAs Raise Key Public Issues In J&K Assembly

Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, on Wednesday called upon legislators to maintain decorum and use measured language during debates to uphold the sanctity of the House. He said elected representatives must exercise restraint and mutual respect while voicing public concerns.

During the Zero Hour, MLAs from across the Union Territory raised a wide range of constituency-related issues — from road connectivity and education to healthcare and flood relief.

Shagun Parihar, MLA Kishtwar, highlighted that remote areas such as Chatter to Oli still lack road connectivity, forcing residents to carry patients in palkis. She sought speedy completion of ongoing road projects in her constituency.

Iftikhar Ahmad, MLA Rajouri, urged immediate disbursal of flood relief, reconstruction of damaged infrastructure, and timely conduct of DPCs in the Education Department for Jammu division.

MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, stressed that every citizen has the right to express concerns freely and demanded that detainees from J&K lodged in prisons outside the Union Territory be shifted back on humanitarian grounds.
