Rat Burrowing Threatens Dal Lake Bund, Triggers Erosion

Parts of the Dal Lake wall or bund along Boulevard Road in Srinagar are facing serious structural risk due to severe erosion caused by extensive rat burrowing, raising concerns over public safety and infrastructure stability.
Locals and boatmen told KNT that a massive rat infestation has weakened the soil beneath the lakefront footpath, with rodents digging deep burrows that have created visible holes and cracks. The erosion has compromised the foundation of the bund, making sections of the pedestrian path fragile and prone to collapse.
