Quota Issue: Ruhullah Threatens Fresh Protest

Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah Mehdi has urged the party-led government in Jammu and Kashmir to resolve the reservation issue before the Winter session of Parliament concludes, warning that he will join quota protests if the delay continues.

The Winter session is scheduled from December 1 to 19, with 15 working days. Mehdi has backed general category aspirants who seek a review of the existing reservation policy, accusing the Union territory administration of turning a blind eye to the frustration of educated youth.

In a sharp post on X, the Budgam MP asked the government what it would take to acknowledge the “agony and hopelessness” young aspirants are facing. Referring to the recent controversy at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, where merit-based admissions sparked debate, he said, “Doesn't today's case open their eyes? Don't they feel the urgency to give our youth some relief?”
