LISTENERS to Today FM star Dec Pierce's show have cast their votes for the 30 all-time greatest dancefloor bangers.

Dec, who fronts dancefloor anthems show Block Rockin' Beats, is celebrating 30 years as a DJ with a huge sold-out show this weekend.

The Ringsend native and Aston Villa fanatic began his career on the popular Dublin pirate radio station Pulse in 1995, and he's now the frontman for one of the most successful live acts in Irish dance music history.

For the last six years, Block Rockin' Beats - which kicked off on Today FM in 2017 - has wowed the crowds at every major Irish music festival, including Electric Picnic, and sold out many of the largest indoor venues across the country.

Block Rockin' Beats live sees Dec perform more than two hours of his radio show's most high-octane nightclub classics with a full band. As he says himself, “it's where rock meets rave, where both styles unite for one unmissable performance”.

He added: “We want people to lose themselves for a few hours. We want them to go back in time to experience these classic anthems with a full live band. It’s a unique music and visual experience. Honestly, it's the most fun I've ever had on stage.”

And Dec is returning to the stage tonight at the Olympia Theatre for a homecoming set that sold out within hours. It’s the DJ's first live performance since his recent health scare, which saw him diagnosed with breast cancer just two years after the traumatic experience of a brain haemorrhage.

“I'm happy to highlight breast cancer as an issue which affects men too. I've already had two surgeries at the Mater Private and am now focusing on recovery and the next stage of treatment,” he said.

“When I first spoke out about it, I was amazed at how many messages I received from people who weren't aware men could get breast cancer and from others thanking me for raising awareness about it.”

To mark his 30 years on the wheels of steel, we asked Dec to count down the 30 most popular tracks with listeners to his legendary weekend shows.
