Scuppered by a bad sprain

During December I had one of those cough-flu things that took a slight edge off some things, but more importantly for me this meant I only ran for part of the month, even when I did, I did not feel 100%.

So picture me, going to Parkrun on New Year's Day finally firing on all cylinders again, looking forward to starting the year with a run, thinking maybe I will run every day this year as an added challenge. Walking to the start area, I proceeded to trip and fall, badly spraining my ankle.

It’s not uncommon for me to get painful niggles when I run but over the years I usually run them off, so I decided to run a few minutes later and completed the 5k in a reasonable time and then jogged back to my car with a bit of discomfort.
