CAN we dare to dream? The only thing better than Ireland qualifying for the World Cup would be seeing them compete at the tournament on home soil.

And with the next World Cup in America, it feels like that's a potential sort-of reality.

Ireland will probably never host the tournament. But competing in the US, with games in Irish strongholds like Boston and New York, is probably the closest we will ever come to it.

The path to the World Cup is now clear, with Ireland taking on Czechia in March, hopefully followed by Denmark or North Macedonia.

And, with a bit of luck, the Boys in Green could be bound for the States.

World Cups have been a thing of folklore and legend in my lifetime.

There was only one tournament I can recall from living memory. And just about.
