APOLOGY: Michael Lowry was taken out of context. I mistakenly thought he was gesturing "f**k off".

And for a politician often described as having "some neck" it's notable that Michael Lowry doesn't appear to have any neck at all.

Close scrutiny of a screengrab of Michael in the Dail this week confirms that he has two fingers - but there's a complete absence of a neck that's fascinating.

I look at the screengrab and I see a cheeky grin - perhaps bordering on smug - while there's also gleeful wide eyes.

He has some cheek, a left cheek and a right cheek - each one dimpled slightly by the grin. He has shoulders that don't appear to have the weight of the world on them.

And yeah there's definitely two fingers. But no neck. Instead, his head sits directly on top, or almost wedged into, his suit jacket, shirt and tie.
