Chart-topper makes good on vow to play hometown gig

IRISH pop sensation CMAT returned to her hometown to play an intimate gig in a bar.

Staff at Brady’s in Dunboyne, Co Meath, were sworn to secrecy for the past fortnight about the gig which came after the star, 29, real name Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, pledged to perform.

When she released her album Euro-Country this year and was battling Sabrina Carpenter for No1 on the charts, she vowed to play the pub if fans helped her keep her rival from the top spot.

An insider told this paper: “It was an off-the-cuff remark made in a livestream but there was never any question of not keeping the promise.
