Woman who lost her husband and son on doomed Titan sub speaks out in new documentary
A WOMAN who lost her billionaire husband and son in the Titan implosion says she was so angry about falling for the owner's hype she found it difficult to grieve.
Christine Dawood feels British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada, 48, university student Suleman, 19, and herself were tricked by Stockton Rush into believing the submarine was safe.
They were among five passengers who died when the carbon fibre vessel failed 90 minutes into its voyage to the wreck of the Titanic.
She says in a new BBC documentary about the disaster: "We all know who the culprit is - it's not changing anything. The culprit died with them so who am I to blame?"
OceanGate CEO Rush, 61, British businessman Hamish Harding, 58, and former French navy diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, 77, were also killed in the June 2023 implosion.
Christine said Shahzada and Suleman were fascinated by the Titanic, and Rush was brimming with confidence about taking them to see it.
CRIME
He is shown laughing off safety advice and warnings from staff and experts despite repeated problems.
Noises recorded during test dives, described as "cracking" or "popping", indicated that the hull was breaking up - known as delamination.
German-born Christine, of Surrey, says: "The arrogance of the people in charge when they think that they're above everything. That really gets to me. Why is ego more important than safety?
