RORY: WE'RE THE ONES THE REST SHOULD FEAR
Irish Daily Star
|April 07, 2025
SHAMROCK ROVERS ace Rory Gaffney signalled a title warning to the rest of the league after declaring: "Other teams should be worried about us".
The striker put a year of injury hell behind him to score the only goal in Friday's victory away to Galway United, ending the Tribesmen's unbeaten start to the season.
Gaffney's tap-in was his first goal since scoring against Shelbourne in February 2024, after missing practically all of last year with an ankle injury that required surgery.
But now armed with a new one-year contract, the 35-year-old is back with a bang and insists Shamrock Rovers mean business this year as they try to reclaim the title.
Gaffney said: "We're ahead of the curve at the minute when you look at the league table, compared to where we normally are.
"Everyone likes to talk about our slow starts but it's not slow this year. If we play our game in hand and win it, we're one point off the top.
"Historically, we do finish the season strong so I'd be worried if I was any of the other teams."
