BOOK sales are booming - and so is "BookTok Travel", the latest trend reshaping global tourism, according to a new survey.

Fuelled by social media, reading culture is booming with online communities like BookTok sparking a worldwide resurgence.

But, beyond the bookshelves, BookTok is also influencing how people travel, as readers seek destinations and experiences inspired by their favourite stories.

In fact, a recent survey by Skyscanner found almost half (49%) of travellers have booked or would consider a trip inspired by literature.

Bókun, a Tripadvisor company and leaders in tour booking management, has now shared insights into the rise of BookTok travel, the books boosting global tourism and the rising demand for reading retreats.

Bókun analysed Google search terms for locations featured in 2025's top trending books, revealing how literature is increasingly shaping travel choices.

Searches for "Newport Rhode Island", the setting of Alison Espach's 2025 release The Wedding People, surged by 24% following the book's release, while interest in the "England Coast to Coast Path" rose a whopping 263% after David Nicholls' 2024 bestseller You Are Here.
