Get a leg up in hot new style

- BARBARA MCCARTHY

PANTSLESS IS MORE...

TURNING up at a big event with no pants on was once the stuff of nightmares — but now it's this summer's hottest trend, from catwalks to red carpets to celebrities out and about.

Stars are ditching the skirts and trousers to wear embellished bodysuits or tuxedos, with nothing else added.

The bold look has been building over time, but it's big night out was the Met Gala, where Sabrina Carpenter, K-Pop star Lisa, Charli XCX and Pharrell Williams' wife Helen Lasichanh wore various versions of the latest risque style.

Singer Sabrina took the limelight with her structured burgundy jacket with matching bodysuit and sky-high heels.

They were following in the fashion footsteps of Kristin Stewart, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber and Sydney Sweeney. It was also included in the Miu Liu spring collection, Louis Vuitton and Alexandra Wang.

But style watchers say the trend is a female power show that comes along every few decades. In the early 2000s, Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) wore her famous Playboy-inspired bodysuit in the first movie.
