Exiting Peter inspires Munster to key win

O'MAHON' OF THE MOMENT

PETER O'Mahony got his dream Thomond Park farewell with a try and a victory to remember as Munster kept their Champions Cup hopes alive last night heading into the final week of regular URC games.

O'Mahony, who had produced a brilliant try assist for Tom Farrell in a high-octane first-half, reached high over Ulster scrum-half Nathan Doak to catch a bouncing Jack Crowley kick in the 58th minute to score his final try at the iconic stadium.

The ground erupted as the vast majority of the 17,684 attendance rose in acclaim of the 35-year-old, who along with Stephen Archer and Conor Murray, was saying his playing farewell to Limerick.

Called ashore soon after, O'Mahony isn't finished yet — Munster must beat Benetton in his native Cork next Friday to get themselves into the top eight play-offs and maintain the province’s proud Champions Cup qualification record.
