ANDREW Balding says it is "extraordinary" how Oisin Murphy has dominated the jockeys' championship amid a turbulent season.

- MELISSA JONES

The rider partnered his 143th winner of the campaign this week and is 35 ahead of second-placed Billy Loughnane before the start of today's QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot.

Murphy, who turned 30 last month, is taking the title for the fifth time, adding to his achievements from 2019-21 and last year.
